CISA, BAMA partner to empower vulnerable children from Lagos’ slum communities

Chess in Slums Africa (CISA) recently partnered with BAMA mayonnaise to empower vulnerable children from communities across Lagos with the ‘play and good nutrition’ initiative.

Tunde Onakoya, founder, Chess in Slums Africa (CISA), stated that the group is committed to uplifting children from underserved communities through innovative educational programs. “We are changing that narrative and with the support and collaboration from brands like BAMA, we are working towards a better future for each of these kids.”

According to him, CISA firmly believes in the transformative potential of chess as a key learning tool that can unlock the boundless potential of youth living in urban slums. He disclosed that the partnership with BAMA is valuable, and that the group look forward to continuing its work together in the years to come.

“Today is as good a day as any to celebrate kids around the world and for us at CISA, it’s a more special day to celebrate with these kids and have them show their budding skills in chess. Some of the kids are exceptionally gifted but can’t go on to do great things due to their circumstances,” Onakoya stated.

Oreoluwa Atinmo, marketing director, GBFoods, stated that the firm is leveraging the collaboration and keenly looking forward to all that can be done together to empower Nigeria’s future talents.

“BAMA is a core part of childhood nutrition and in partnership with Chess in Slums Africa (CISA), we are recreating nostalgic moments, building beautiful memories, and nourishing young talents while fostering their cognitive development through the game of chess,” Atinmo stated.
