Abdulrasheed Kashamu and commitment to development politics

Abdulrasheed Kashamu, son of the late philanthropist businessman, Senator Buruji Kashamu is quietly stepping into his late father’s shoes.

And he’s doing so effortlessly, too. A fine example of the saying that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

At just 26, Abdulrasheed is the youngest member of the Ogun State House of Assembly in the current dispensation. The younger Kashamu made his first foray into politics in the last election where he contested and won the Ijebu North Constituency 1 seat at the state assembly.

He polled 10, 004 to defeat the incumbent member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Sylvester ‘Niyi Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Since the electoral triumph, Abdulrasheed political profile has been on a steady rise. He’s quietly walking his talk. And focusing on how to execute his many pro-projects aimed at improving the socio-economic status of his constituents.

Buoyed by his impressive track record as a successful businessman, Abdulrasheed came on stream with a reputation for excellence. His late father, Senator Kashamu’s spirit of excellence has rubbed off on him. And he’s clearly following in his footsteps in the areas of philanthropy and development politics.

Abdulrasheed is in a hurry to impress. And he has already hit the ground running. He’s got a legacy to protect. And he’s working tirelessly to surpass his father’s giant political strides.

The easy-going Ogun lawmaker, Abdulrasheed areas of focus include employment and empowerment, economy and peace and security. Youth empowerment, Information and Communication Technologies, and assisting small and medium businesses such as agriculture, timbering, and cow skin businesses are some of the top priority projects dear to Prince Abdulrasheed. Under the Employment and Employment agenda, the lawmaker’s goal is to facilitate job creation and boost the local economy through skill acquisition programmes.

In Prince Abdulrasheed’s words, “We are entrepreneurial in Ijebu North. I will create more jobs by supporting artisans, market traders, farmers, businesses, youths, men and women with friendly loans and skill acquisition programmes.”

As you read, that’s ongoing in Ijebu North at the moment. On the local economy, Prince Abdulrasheed is working on policies that will bring about development and development in economic activities such as farming, trading, and lumbering which are predominant economic ventures in Ijebu North. In the area of security, peace and stability, Hon. Abdulrasheed is working closely with traditional rulers in the area of prevention of crimes.

He is only focusing on crime and conflict prevention through community policing by teaming up with security agencies village heads and traditional authorities. Though it’s still early days in Prince Abdulrasheed’s political adventure he’s clearly focused on delivering good representation in his first major political assignment. And in all honesty, he is on the right track and genuinely putting his people first in the scheme of things politically.

Described as an entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist and politician, Prince Abdulrasheed has carved an enviable niche for himself as one of the emerging political juggernauts in Ogun politics. Abdulrasheed attended Greesspring Secondary School in Ajah, Lagos and thereafter proceeded to Brunel University, London, where he bagged a B. Sc in International Business and Management. His other academic credentials include a Master of Science, M. Sc degree in International Financial Management from the University of Surrey. He graduated with Merit in 2018. Best known for his warm personality, Prince Abdulrasheed is set to take his late father’s legacy to the next level.
