Symrise, a Germany-based company, has launched a new facility in Lagos State to consolidate its presence in Nigeria.
Iyabo Ogunwole, senior key account manager on taste, nutrition, and health, said the new facility would help the company expand its operations within and around the West Coast.
“We are here because Symrise just opened a new facility in Ikeja, and this facility is to support what we do within the West Coast, which is to promote our brands to the B2B end of the market and play in the space we were not playing before,” she added.
Rene Hemeier, vice president of Symrise Europe, Africa, and Middle East said the company’s partnership with local manufacturers placed a specific emphasis on formulating product designs that make them affordable, especially in light of the current state of the economy.
“We can only be successful if those products are affordable to the consumers. We are developing technologies for high-impact materials, which give flavor even at lower dosages. All these help to make our products more affordable,” he added.
Sofiane Berrahmoune, vice president of Symrise Africa, Middle East, Turkey, and Russia said the new facility would help the company develop products with international standards.
“What we are doing is trying to have our products developed for the Nigerian market with Nigerian expertise. We are developing for the Nigerian market with Nigerians, through Nigerians in Nigeria,” he said.
