…as 176 surrender to FG
A combined military operation formed against the insurgency, kidnapping and other social vices in the North-East, tagged the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation LAKE SANITY 2, has killed no fever than 140 Boko Haram terrorists in major strikes in the Lake Chad area of Borno State.
The military operation being led by the Nigerian Army, also arrested 57 Boko Haram members, just as 176 insurgents surrendered themselves to the Federal Government through the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Ibrahim Sallau, Major-General and Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) stated this during an international Press Conference held at the Theatre Command in Maiduguri on Tuesday meant to give an update on Operation Lake Sanity 2.
Sallau said in the past month, MNJTF troops had been relentless in their efforts, recently clearing some locations such as Doron Naira, Zanari, Bagadaza, and other key terrorist strongholds in Lake Chad area.
“It is essential to acknowledge the sacrifices made during this phase; regrettably, we have recorded 6 casualties among the multinational troops since the operation began”, he said.
He noted that during these operations, the military men recovered a cache of armaments, including 796 rounds of ammunition, one PKM machine gun, 5 AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, and 8 eight magazines, alongside various other arms, ammunition and logistics support items.
“Over 140 terrorists were neutralized during these air strikes, and a significant amount of terrorist platforms and materiel were destroyed, severely crippling their operational capabilities.

“The success of Operation LAKE SANITY 2 is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our troops. Although the operation continues, the advancements we’ve made are critical steps towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
“We deeply appreciate the Chiefs of Defence Staff from all the troops contributing Countries. We assure them that the MNJTF remains committed to its mandate of creating a safe and secure environment in the Lake Chad areas affected by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups”, he added.
